In response to many requests, the deadline for the Call for Abstracts for the 13th National Conference on Volunteering has been extended to the 30th April. Easter and school holidays seem to have taken their toll with many potential presenters asking for more time to prepare and lodge their abstracts so the extension is now available for anyone who couldn’t quite make the first date.

The 13th National Conference on Volunteering hosted by Volunteering Australia is to be held from 27-29 October 2010 at The Sebel and Citigate Albert Park in Melbourne, Victoria.
The conference aims to provide a national forum to:
Initiate discussion, debate and analyse issues affecting volunteering;
Discover new technologies that can affect or support volunteering;
Examine initiatives that will grow volunteering and promote best practice in volunteering.
The conference will draw together papers, workshops and ideas that explore the following streams:
Innovate: sessions that address different or innovative volunteer programmes or approaches to volunteering.
Adapt: sessions that address the changing environment and how the sector has had to adapt, or is adapting, to change.
Act: sessions that look at the systems, policies and procedures in volunteering and volunteer management in a practical way that provides delegates with solutions, tools and tips.
Topics of particular interest may include youth volunteering, corporate volunteering, training and skills development, recognition for volunteers, sponsorships and grants, and spontaneous volunteering.
First and final call for abstracts Volunteering Australia invites proposals for presentations in a variety of formats:
Concurrent papers: Presenters will present a prepared paper in a session of up to three papers on a similar or related topic. Each presenter will have 30 minutes to present the paper, including 10 minutes question time.
Workshops: Presenters will offer information in an interactive workshop format. Workshops will run for 90 minutes and have a specified maximum number of participants.

Abstracts are due by Friday 16 April 2010.
Abstract Acceptance Notification All proposers will be notified by email whether their abstract has been accepted or declined by Friday 21 May 2010.
