Multicultural Volunteering Conference – Snapshot
Volunteering Victoria’s Multicultural Volunteering Conference highlighted the vital role volunteering plays as a conduit for greater social inclusion, economic participation and integration.
This interactive one day event provided a platform for organisations to come together to explore topical issues and workshop practical solutions to strengthen Volunteer Management and build organisational capacity for inclusive and culturally aware volunteering programs as well as share ideas and resources.
Following consultation with members of Volunteering Victoria’s Multicultural Volunteering Special Interest Group, the format consisted of a Key Note presentation, panel discussions with leaders in the multicultural and volunteering space, presentations of academic research and concurrent workshops.
We were fortunate enough to have Tess Altman, PhD Candidate – Department of Anthropology, University College London, in attendance to provide a snapshot of the day.
A popular workshop on the day was Joining the Dots: Collaboration and Connection facilitated by Linda Rowley. The outcomes of this workshop are also available.
Approximately 40 conference attendees participated in the two “Join the Dots” workshops facilitated by Linda Rowley at the Multicultural Volunteering Conference, participants were encouraged to brainstorm at their table groups what great collaboration looks like. The document below illustrates the elements they see as being central to great collaboration.
