On 18 May, Volunteering Victoria was delighted to host the Forum: Valuing Self, Valuing Others – Exploring Leadership and Wellness. Our largest National Volunteer Week celebration to date, the event attracted over 130 delegates, supported by 17 staff, volunteers and panellists.

The forum featured a keynote address from Shawn Callahan (Anecdote) and panel discussion facilitated by Oli Tripodi with esteemed panellists Hang Vo (EACH), Tony McManus (Beyond Blue Ambassador), and Angela Seach (CFA).

MC Shawn Callahan from Anecdote

The universal theme of leadership and wellness resonated with all in attendance as personal insights were shared throughout the morning.

Hang Vo shared her own story of arriving in Australia as a refugee and of the St. Vincent de Paul volunteer who genuinely welcomed them, helping her family to settle in as they made a new life in a new country. So deeply appreciative of his support, her family later shed tears after learning of his death. Shaun Callahan shared the art of story telling, demonstrating the power of a story that is real, that is lived, that is never the same and that is never scripted.
