National Governance overview

The strategic direction of the new VMA funding, including national initiatives, is being managed by the VMA Council (established 2021) which has representatives from:

  • Each of the state and territory Volunteering Peak Bodies
  • Volunteering Australia
  • The Department of Social Services (DSS)

VMAC will be responsible for the delivery of national projects to support the VMA.

National Standards for Volunteer Involvement Refresh

The National Standards for Volunteer Involvement (NSVI) are being refreshed to ensure they reflect the contemporary environment and continue to support the volunteering ecosystem. The NSVI Refresh Project will involve consultation with the volunteering ecosystem and draw on the extensive engagement undertaken during the development of the new National Strategy for Volunteering.

The refreshed National Standards for Volunteer Involvement will build on the new National Strategy to support a vision for inclusive, safe, and sustainable volunteering in Australia.

Note: The current National Standards should continue to be used until the refresh program is completed.
